How early to book
event styling — really

Four weeks is comfortable, two weeks is doable, ten days is triage. Here's what each week of the timeline is for — and what goes wrong when it gets compressed.

Fitting session three weeks before a Noosa wedding

The four-week ideal

Week one is the brief: event, dress code, your role, budget, preferences. Week two is sourcing — hire bookings, shortlists, checking your existing wardrobe for anything usable.

Week three is the fitting. Everything arrives, gets tried on, gets marked for tailoring if needed. Week four is buffer — alterations return, accessories get decided, the backup plan gets made.

Queensland adds one non-negotiable: an outdoor event needs a weather plan. That's not optional, it's the difference between prepared and lucky.

What compresses badly

Hire stock is the first casualty. Popular sizes at the good hire platforms go early — at two weeks out you're choosing from what came back, not what's available.

Panic purchases are the most expensive items people never wear again.

Tailoring is the second. A rushed alteration is worse than a slightly loose fit, and tailors book out before spring racing and wedding season. The ten-day scramble usually ends in an off-the-rack compromise we could have avoided.

The last-minute triage

Under two weeks, the priorities reorder:

  • Existing wardrobe first — a styled-out rewear beats a rushed purchase
  • Local boutiques over online orders — no shipping gamble
  • Accessories do the heavy lifting when the dress is simple
  • Backup plan still happens — it takes an hour, not a week

If your event is inside ten days, call us rather than filling in the form. Triage needs a conversation, not a queue.
