Where we actually
shop in Brisbane
After 150+ guided shopping trips, these are the Brisbane spots we keep returning to — what each is good for, and which ones to skip for which clients.
James Street on a Thursday — quiet enough to think
James Street for the interesting stuff
James Street is where we take clients who want pieces with personality — Australian designers, decent linen, boutiques where staff actually know the stock.
The catch is price. Expect $200–400 for the interesting things. For capsule basics it's poor value — that's not its job.
Best for: event pieces, statement items, clients who've already got their basics sorted.
The CBD and the centres
Queen Street Mall and QueensPlaza handle the mainstream middle — the big Australian chains and international high street. Reliable for workwear staples, hit-and-miss for anything with character.
The best shops are the ones where staff tell you what not to buy.
Sunshine Plaza in Maroochydore is the local workhorse — not glamorous, but 70% of client shopping happens there because the range-to-effort ratio is unbeatable. The Gold Coast outlets earn a trip maybe twice a year for bulk basics.
How we route a shopping day
A half-day session covers four to six stops. The routing rules we use:
- Hardest item first — the thing your wardrobe needs most gets fresh energy
- Cluster by precinct, never zigzag across the city
- Coffee at the midpoint — decisions get worse when you're tired
- End with the lowest-stakes stop so the day finishes easy
We scout the route a day before your session so you arrive to a shortlist, not a search. That's the difference between a guided shop and just shopping together.

Services behind the advice
Everything in the journal comes from paid sessions — these are the ones it draws on most.
