Three stylists in Birtinya
who take closets seriously
Style & Wear Lab started in a spare room in 2019 and grew into the Sunshine Coast's busiest little styling studio. Same idea the whole time: edit first, buy less, wear more of what you own.
From a spare room
to a booked-out studio
Amelia was a retail buyer who kept getting pulled aside at parties with the same question: "Can you just come look at my wardrobe?"
In late 2019 she said yes properly — weekend audits out of a spare room in Birtinya. Word of mouth did the rest. Georgia joined in 2021 when the menswear requests outgrew one person, and Sam came on in 2023 to run events and the online members.
We've never advertised. Every client came from another client, which keeps the standards honest — a bad session is a referral that never happens.
The spare room era
Weekend audits for friends of friends. First 40 wardrobes, one car, a lot of op-shop runs.
Georgia joins · menswear opens
Menswear requests had been piling up. Georgia took them over and built that side of the studio.
The Birtinya studio
Moved into the Kawana Way studio — proper daylight for colour sessions, a fitting rail and real chairs.
Sam joins · membership launches
Clients who moved away kept asking to stay on. The online membership turned into half the studio's work.
Now
95 active members, a waitlist some weeks, and the same rule as the spare room: honest advice or nothing.

Fewer, better,
actually worn
Subtraction first
Most wardrobe problems are subtraction problems. We edit before we ever add.
Honesty over sales
No store commissions, ever. If the honest answer is 'your wardrobe is fine', that's what you hear — it's happened.
Dress for the actual climate
Queensland humidity decides what works. We build wardrobes for where clients live, not for a generic four-season fantasy.
The people behind
the hangers
Small on purpose. Every session is run by one of the three of us — no juniors, no handoffs.
Amelia Hartley
Founder · colour & editsEx-retail buyer, ASPA-certified. Runs consultations, audits and every colour session. Will absolutely talk you out of the wrong blazer.
Georgia Lin
Shopping & menswearTen years in menswear retail before joining. Runs the Brisbane shopping trips and most of the men's audits. Knows which stores have honest mirrors.
Sam Okafor
Events & membershipsBackground in costume and event styling. Runs occasion briefs and the membership program — the person answering your fitting-room photos.
Projects we're
allowed to talk about
Client wardrobes stay private by policy — these are the briefs people signed off on sharing.
The postpartum capsule — Sippy Downs
A new mum, a wardrobe from another life and zero time to shop. Fourteen pieces, all machine washable, all feeding-friendly — built across two sessions.
Race day at Eagle Farm
Full look for a client's first race day — hired dress, owned jacket, millinery coordinated. Weather plan B never needed.
The executive reset
A hospital exec's 140-piece wardrobe edited to 31 working pieces. Mornings went from 25 minutes to under five.
The Coast fabric study
Our running test of which fabrics actually survive Queensland summers — 40+ fabrics tracked across client wear.
Numbers that
still surprise us
Counted from actual booking records, not marketing rounding.
"The best compliment we get is when a client stops needing us — the wardrobe just works."
